Location:

Regency Retirement Resorts have 8 locations in the Okanagan, including Vernon, Penticton, West Kelowna, and Kelowna.  This position is on site at the Penticton location.

Job Description:
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Executive Chef will exhibit their culinary talents in creating menus and delivery high quality dishes that meet the philosophy and standards of Regency Retirement Resort. Being mindful to residents that have food Allergies or intolerances. You will lead the Food Services Department to operate in an effective, efficient, and safe manner while creating a memorable dining experience for our residents.

This role involves setting a high standard for conduct, grooming, and appearance for all staff, while ensuring food service delivery aligns with the Regency lifestyle's quality standards.

Responsibilities include developing unique, budget-conscious seasonal menus that respect the residents' diverse social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, and collaborating with the General Manager in hiring, coaching, and evaluating Food Service employees.

The position requires participation in management meetings, overseeing food services for special events, and supervising all aspects of food preparation, service, procurement, and sanitation.

Additional tasks include purchasing supplies within budget, maintaining regulatory standards for storage, safety, and infection control, developing departmental goals and policies, managing the budget, and implementing documentation systems.

Fostering a positive team environment, assisting with new employee orientation, respecting resident confidentiality, and performing other related duties as needed are also key components of the role.

  • Work Hours are primarily Tuesday-Saturday, but flexibility is required based on need (Evenings and Weekends in addition to daytime).
  • Number of Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate from a recognized cooks training program, have completed apprenticeship program and received their Red Seal or certificate from a recognized training program.
  • Applicant must possess a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a chef in the hospitality industry.
  • Certificate in Serving it Right & WHMIS
  • Food Safe Level II, renewable every four years.

Skills for Success:

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to be tactful, friendly, and extremely patient when dealing with residents.  Must be courteous and friendly to visitors and work in a cooperative manner with fellow workers.
  • Able to plan, organize and direct people and functions.
  • Mentally and physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Salary:

Between $60,000-$70,000.
